MRI of the head

Changes of brain tissue and of the blood vessels in the brain can be detected very accurately in an MRI. It is possible to show the brain in different planes and even in three dimensions. Changes of the brain caused by malignant disorders, inflammations, metabolic disorders, malformations or early detection of Alzheimer’s are only a few examples of the numerous indications for an MRI of the brain. The MRI can additionally show the blood vessels in the brain without the application of a contrast medium so that, for example, dangerous vascular bulges (so called aneurysms) or narrow spots (stenoses) can be detected. We use a mirror during the MRI of the head, which allows you to look forward during the 15-minute examination. Even patients with claustrophobia usually have no problems being in the MRI machine for the duration of the examination.
