At the moment the MRI is the best radiographic method used to detect prostate cancer.

MRI of the prostate

The Department of Radiology at Preventicum performs the MRI in accordance with the guidelines of the German Society of Urology. During the examination we use a so called prostate coil, which is especially designed to scan of the prostate. It is often possible to detect or exclude malignant changes in the prostate with this modern method. The MRI can provide the urologist with information on the exact location of a possibly present tumour before a planned prostate biopsy. In some cases the MRI can even help to avoid the biopsy altogether.
