Pain therapy

Pain therapy for the spinal column – without x-rays.

We are one of the very few practices in North Rhine-Westphalia which offers MRI-guided, radiation free pain therapy for the spinal column. This is used to treat back pain caused by slipped discs or developed due to wear and tear of the lesser joints between the vertebrae (facet joint arthritis).

Using the latest technology we can perform facet joint infiltration or so-called PRT (periradicular therapy) in the MRI.

The drugs are directly injected at the intervertebral joint for facet joint infiltration to alleviate pain and irritation of the joint. By contrast, in periradicular therapy (PRT) the drugs are directly injected at the nerves, which are irritated by a slipped or bulging disc.
